New President for ABS

29.09.2000

Thomas Widstrand has been appointed the new president of ABS, the leading manufacturer of pumps, mixers and aerators for water and wastewater applications, process industries and building & construction. ABS offers one of the most comprehensive product programmes within ist market segments, and leads the development in cost-effective solutions.

Thomas Widstrand succeeds Hans Borneson, who retires from the post as head of the ABS group after 18 years service. During this period, ABS has gone from being a relatively small player with a 150 MSEK turnover, to today’s international group of 2.5 billion SEK revenue in 1999.

The world-wide network with over 30 subsidiaries and representation in more than 100 countries demonstrates strong local presence in combination with global strength.

成本效益pumping in the spotlight

Thomas Widstrand, who was born in 1957, has been employed within the ESAB group since the early 1980s, most recently as head of the welding consumables business area. He takes over ABS in a challenging period of expansion:

”We will continue our positive development and strengthen our position as one of the world’s leading pump companies. Customer support and service are key areas for our further expansion in the coming years, and above all, we will keep our focus in cost-effective pumping.”

The cost-effective pumping concept is based on the fact that life cycle cost is becoming more and more important for customers all over the world. The initial cost for the pump only accounts for a small part through its total life cycle, which makes it very important for the customer to take the long-term perspective into consideration.

成本效益pumping has been synonomous with ABS for many years, where all research and development is focused on designing reliable, highly efficient products. By providing pumps, mixers and aerators that are easy to install, operate, maintain and service, ABS offers true cost-efficiency for the benefit of the customer.

Thomas Widstrand has taken up the new position as from September 1.
