Revenues will exceed $4.5 billion in 2014. This is the conclusion reached in the latest forecasts appearing in Ultrapure Water World Markets published by the McIlvaine Company.

Ultrapure water is required by power plants, semiconductor manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies. This high level of purity requires treatment equipment which removes the smallest particles. It requires pumps, valves and piping which will not provide any contamination. Sophisticated instrumentation which can measure dissolved gases in ppb is also required.

The industry is served by hundreds of small as well as large companies. Many of the large companies are anticipating growth which is higher than the predicted industry average.

The instrumentation sector is growing faster than the total market. This will benefit Yokogawa, Mettler Toledo, Honeywell and Siemens.
